If Someday

I am dying
do not lay your head upon my chest to listen
do not ask me questions I can no longer answer
do not allow those who never knew me to speak for me

instead
resuscitate only memory
                        take me to the window
                                    show me the sunset
even if I no longer know what beauty is

                        whisper in my ear
                                    the names of children
even if I no longer know how to love
                        touch me
with those hands like small birds
even if I can no longer feel the dance

                        play My Romance
                                    and remember ours
                                                before we say goodbye
